Students of Classes IX - X will undergo Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation
(CCE) as recommended by CBSE. Spread over two terms, one from April 2014 to September
2014 and the second from October 2014 to March 2015. The students will be assessed
in Scholastic as well as Co-scholastic areas.
Part 1: Scholastic Areas:
The students will be assessed and graded for Scholastic areas-English. II Language.
Mathematics. Science, Social Science and the additional subject- Fundamentals of
Information Technology.
The Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment both in these subjects will be
part of School Based Assessment. Formative Assessment (FA) will be done on the basis
of Weekly Tests. Assignments. Projects. Oral testing, Quiz, Home-work and other
activities in the class. Summative Assessment (SA) is the Terminal Assessment of
performance at the end of a term. This will be an End Term Exam.
The pattern of assessment (with weightage) is given below:

- For Class IX. The score for FA4 in English. Maths. Science and Social Studies will
be provided by the CBSE, based on the performance in PSA exam (conducted by CBSE).
- For Class X, the PSA score obtained in Class IX, will be carried forward as FA4
score. However. There is provision for improving this score by reappearing for the
PSA with class IX in the next session.
Important
A student must obtain a minimum of Grade D in all the subjects under Scholastic
areas excluding additional 6th subject as per Scheme of Studies to qualify for promotion
to next class.
A student has to obtain at least 25% marks in the Summative Assessment ( both SA1
and SA2 taken together), to be eligible to qualify the examination; i.e. at least
15 marks out of 60 and total 33% in each of the five main subjects of scholastic
area.
It is mandatory for a student to appear in both Summative Assessments.
In respect of students participating in sports at national/ international level.
exemption from appearing in any one of the Summative Assessments may be granted
subject to prior approval of the Board provided the student will be participating
in sports at nationa or international level organized by recognized federations/
CBSE/ SGFI and being held during the month of the conduct of the Summative Assessment.
In such case, the marks obtained in one SA shall also be indicated for the 2nd SA
by the board. The school shall fill in the relevant field with zero (0) marks. In
the hard copy remark be given against such student supported with necessary document.
As regards attendance requirement, school may take action such as per rule 14 of
the Examination Bylaws. However, efforts be made by the school to give them one
more chance to appear in the SA 1 upto 31st October in class IX/X and for SA2 upto
31st March in Class IX.
Parents are advised to go through CBSE circular no. COORD/EC- 14/01/2013 in this
connection.
Those students who have obtained Grade El or E2 in the subjects under Scholastic
Areas shall have to improve their performance to qualify the subject(s) in one subsequent
attempt.

(A) Any two of the following will be assessed:
- Literary & Creative Skills (LCT)
- Scientific Skills (SCT)
- Information and Technology (ICT)
- Organization & Leadership Skills (Clubs)
(B) Health and Physical Activities:
- Sports/Indigenous sports
- Yoga

Overall performance of the students is based on the achievement in the Scholastic
and Co-Scholastic areas both as follows:
Under Scholastic Area, Grades will be upscaled to the next higher grade in one or
two subjects as per the total Grade points achieved under Co- Scholastic Areas 2(A),
2(B), 2(C), 2(D) and Co-Scholastic Activities 3(A), 3(B) as given below:
53 to 65: Grade in two Subjects of scholastic areas to be upscaled
40 to 52: Grade in one subject of Scholastic area to be upscaled.
