VISIT TO NEHRU PLANETARIUM AND NEHRU MUSEUM
CLASS- VI
29th and 30th April, 2022
About the Planetarium
The Nehru Planetarium in New Delhi is situated in the green surroundings of the Teen Murti House, earlier the official residence of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and now a museum in his memory.
The students of class VI were taken to Nehru planetarium and museum along with their respective class teachers. The total strength of approx 345 students was divided into two groups. The first group classes VI A,B,C,D were taken on 29/04/2015 , there were 175 students in the first group and the second group of classes VI E,F,G,H were taken on 30/04/2015. There were 170 students in the second group. The basic aim of the visit was that the students should understand
- The topic involving the appearance of the sky that can be viewed in three dimensions. Text and chalkboard diagrams cannot reproduce the omnidirectional perspective of the planetarium. Classroom models normally present an outside - earth perspective, while the planetarium recreates the from - earth perspective.
- The sky may be viewed comfortably with no interference from bad weather.
- The sky may be viewed comfortably with no interference from bad weather.
- Students do not need to wait half a day or more after receiving teacher directions for night-sky observations before viewing night-sky phenomena. Students immediately respond to directions, and there is far less chance of forgetting or misremembering.
- Sky motions can be illustrated, with entire cycles compressed to intervals which permit students to determine that they are periodic.
- Many children in cities grow up unaware of most aspects of the sky, because light pollution washes out the stars and planets. The planetarium can show the Milky Way and other sky bodies in simulated darkness.
- Auxiliary effects (e.g. slides, audio aids) can contribute to the realism and promote an aesthetic (peak) experience in the planetarium.
- The planetarium can motivate students with its interesting, stimulating learning situation. Surveys have shown that students like astronomy more than other sciences, and the stimulating environment can build on initial interest and help it develop into a lifelong interest.
After the sky show the students were also taken to Nehru museum where they could get a picture of Jawaharlal Nehru’s life.
After the visit the students had to make a report on their visit.

LITERATI 2015
July 8 -10 2015
“And as imagination bodies forth
the forms of things unknown, the poet’s pen
Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing
a local habitation and a name.”
– William Shakespeare
With the metal of the nibs on crisp paper in sync with out of the box thoughts, barriers on the mind were lifted and much ink spilled, as literature lovers united to weave the magic of their art.
In an effort to celebrate the burgeoning lush of its upcoming talent and keeping in line with a time-honoured tradition, The Editorial Board of Delhi Public School, Mathura Road organized ‘Literati 2015’; a product of the persistent endeavors of a dedicated team of creative minds. The three-day literary programme was given shape and meaning by members of the editorial board and a large group of volunteers from classes X and XI.
The event comprised a number of events for the ingenious minds to prove their finesse in; it offered an array of unconventional topics to work on, each specifically designed to get one’s train of thought running. Some of the highlights of the aforementioned being “Body Positivity”, “House Husbands not House Wives”, “An Ode to Wallflowers”, “A Narcissist’s Plight”, “Letter to Honey Singh/Justin Bieber” etc.
While the young bards with their flair for poetry and the folks fond of structured prose got their annual edition of “Poet’s Shack” and “Parchment and Ink” to showcase their competence in their respective areas of expertise, a new event “A Letter to… people as diverse as Mr Modi, God and Me, myself’ was introduced this year for the revival of the age-old craft of letter writing. In addition to that, the programme catered to the forte of artists coming in from varied backgrounds as well, with its yearly treat of the events “Wandering Lens” (Photography contest), “Doodle-me” (Cartoon-making) and “Magazine Cover Design” yet again.
The words of encouragement, provided by Mr. Manohar Lal, Principal – Officiating and Mrs Deeksha Khera Vice Principal, with a genuine praise for the participants enthused the young ones to give off their best. We promise to give you a glimpse of the work presented in the annual school magazine.

REPORT ON YOGA, LIFE SKILLS AND VALUE EDUCATION
In DPS Mathura Road Yoga and Value Education classes are held once a week for classes 6th to 12th. During these classes we teach value base Yoga and give life skills training. From time to time we organize value education workshops for teachers as well as students.
This year on 16th April to 18th April we organized value education and life skill training programme at Ramakrishna Mission New Delhi for 7th and 8th classes for subject teachers and class teachers.
In this training, they learned new aspects of teaching and how to increase inner possibilities through value education and we also motivate and help students with their problems.
We prepare value base display board in each corridor so that other students also get benefited by this kind of visual knowledge because visual boards have deep impact on minds of children.
On 11th August 2015 we organized Annual Swami Vivekananda Quiz Competition for whole school during home –room period and around 2000 students participated in this value base competition and they learnt about Swami Vivekananda’s life and Indian values.
