Instituted in 1958, the National Award to Teachers is given away by the President of India on 5TH September (Teacher's Day) every year to give public recognition to meritorious teachers working in primary, middle and secondary schools.

This year also Hon’ble President Pratibha Patil distributed National Awards to teachers for the year 2009 on 5th September. HRD Minister Shri Kapil Sibal and MoS for HRD Shrimati Purendeshwari were also present on the occasion. The award carries a silver medal, a certificate, and Rs.25, 000.The nominated teachers along with one family member were invited and treated as State guests for three days.

Moreover, 5TH September 2010 will be written with golden ink in the history of DPS Mathura Road, as on this day Sh. M. I. Hussain, Principal DPS Mathura Road was awarded for his continuous and relentless hard work in the field of education.

Mr. M. I. Hussain took over the reins of the school in the year 1998 and in the last decade amply proved his mettle by leading from the front, leading by example on how a great school should be run. While keeping in mind school motto of “Service before self” he has left no stone unturned in nurturing the students by providing holistic education.

The school is taking giant strides ahead and is a formidable name to reckon with in the top brass of Delhi’s schools. He is not only considerate and polite but also dedicated and disciplined. Mr. Hussain pays attention to every detail of work may it be academic or even co-curricular activity. Mr. M.I.Hussain is an able administrator and a great teacher, he is blessed with an inherent ability to bring out the best in people.

The dynamic and able Principal Sh. M.I.Hussain has always instilled a sense of responsibility and innovation, a sense of thinking big in not only his students but also in his staff. He has also taught to concentrate on scholastic and manage co-scholastic activities along with them.

At the end the immortal lines from the pen of the iconic poet Robert Frost beautifully sums up the life and philosophy of the great visionary Principal Mr. M. I. Hussain.

“Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one less traveled by, and that made all the difference...”- Robert Frost
